A Gypsy Jazz band with a difference.
Founded by the late Clarinetist Harry Christian- Bon Accord were inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Most Gypsy Jazz bands today consist entirely of stringed instruments. Django, however, also recorded with accordionist Gus Viseur and clarinettist Hubert Rostaing. The quartet followed this lead with a line-up of Clarinet (Harry Christian) Guitar (Mike Bethel) and Double Bass (Simon Smith) and Richard on Accordion. Thier repertoire included both well-known Gypsy Jazz numbers and contemporary French and Latin pieces.
Engagements included French and other restaurants, jazz venues, accordion clubs and many other celebrations that wanted a French or Latin touch.
