An Accordionist with over 30 years playing experience, Richard performed on stage for two years with the Royal Shakespeare Company (Stratford-Upon-Avon and on tour), at the London Barbican Centre, the Kennedy Center Washington DC, the Brooklyn Academy of Music New York; at the Edinburgh Fringe in an acclaimed production of Pam Gems, Piaf (Troika Productions), He was pleased in March 2013 to play at "Piaf -The Concert" joining The Matthew Jones Orchestra at venues including: Birmingham Town Hall; Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London.
Today alongside live performances and session recording engagements, using his own recording facilities Richard also offers to production houses, composers and original song writers the sound of the Acoustic Accordion on their musical projects, he is always keen to hear from creative practitioners who may wish to use the sound of his instrument.
Recorded at the Artisan Studios Birmingham and produced by Jon Cotton, is Wolverhampton born Scott Matthews’s debut album Passing Stanger. His song writing earned him the prestigious Ivor Novello award for "Best Song Musically and lyrically" for Elusive. I was pleased to have offered the sound of my instrument on another of his songs on the album City Headache He has released three further albums Elsewhere Produced by Scott and Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Music; What The Night Delivers San Remo Records (produced by Jon Cotton) and Home Part 1 which was released in 2014 If you are yet to hear Scott's songs- do check out his material, you are in for a treat (he is easily one of the most insightful musician's of had the pleasure of playing with). His latest album, Home Part 2 has just been released and I'm glad to have offered, once again, a little accordion flavour on it.
